With an incredible cast and a riveting story arc this season of “Justified” keeps getting better and better. In this weeks episode titled “The Man Behind the Curtain,” we finally got to learn more about Detroit lunatic Quarles (played by Neal McDonough). The man has a bad history of beating male escorts to death and has some real daddy issues with his surrogate father and top Detroit crime boss. Love Jere Burns portrayal of Wynn Duffy, Quarles reluctant number one. His mix of fear, disgust, and bewilderment really add to Quarles intimidation factor. A lot of great guest stars this week including; Jim Beaver, who will hopefully become the new sheriff in Boyd’s pocket, Max Perlich as Sammy the Detroit boss’s good for nothing son, and even Ned Ryerson himself Stephen Tobolowsky and an FBI agent pissed and Raylan. Boyd seems to have put his racist days behind him and hopes to make an ally out of Limehouse. Raylan is so determined to get Quarles out of Harlan that he barely has time to deal with Boyd, Arlo, or care about his recently departed soon tobe baby mama. At the same time Quarles is so fixated on getting Raylan out of his business that he goes searching for Winona’s ex Gary. Not sure how he plans on hurting Raylan through Gary , but one thing is for sure things do not look good for failed real estate agent. “Justified” air Tuesday 10pm on FX. I for one have my DVR set to record.
Deputy U.S. Marshal may always get his man but in this weeks episode titled “When The Guns Come Out,” his ex-wife Winona gets away from him. Raylan tracks her down and confronts her for more than just a Dear John letter, but even with a baby coming she doesn’t think Raylan can be the man she needs. Thankfully “Justified” is not a soap opera and there is a lot more well written dirty deeds going down in Harlan County. Limehouse’s snitch Trixie is killed on an Oxy run by some of Quarles men. I don’t think we have yet to see how sick Quarles really is and the extent of his brutality. Boyd and Ava pay a visit to Limehouse and try a create a relationship with him and get past the horrible racism of him and his father. They find out about Trixie and go searching for her best friend a whore named Ella Mae, who witnessed the murder from under a desk. Meanwhile Raylan gets a whiff of whats going on and pissed off cause the Oxy’s were being sold out of his dead aunt’s house. He confronts Boyd, who sends him to Ava, and the two of them get past Ella Mae’s abusive douche bag pimp and find out that Tanner the one that pulled the trigger. Raylan finds Tanner selling the stolen Oxy and after some great action scenes involving a moving trailer shuts down the operation. Tanner gets away even though he is severely injured and his partner is killed. We then find out that it was one of Limehouse’s henchman who set up the whole thing in attempt to start a war between Quarles and Boyd. This pisses of Limehouse who orders his man to make things right with Trixie’s family. Things keep getting better and better on this great FX series and I can’t wait to see how it all goes down and who end up on who’s side. “Justified” airs on FX 10pm Tuesdays. I for one have my DVR set to record.
Things got a little weird this week in Harlan county as Raylan gets mixed up with organ thieves. Dewey Crowe wakes up in a bath tub with scars where his kidneys are and is told that he will soon die a horrible death unless he gets enough money to buy back his kidneys. This sends Dewey on a frantic crime spree to try to buy back his taken organs. Raylan finds out what is happening and tracks down Dewey proving to him that he has been fooled and his kidneys were never removed in the first place. Meanwhile Boyd tracks down Quarles for their first encounter. He calls him out for being a “carpetbagger” and it is clear that the two of them wont be working together anytime soon. Limehouse tells one of his men that he lied to Dickie about how much is left of Bennett fortune but refuses to tell him where it is hidden. It is also revealed that Limehouse has an informant keeping him posted on what is happening with Boyd and Quarles. After catching Dewey, Raylan tracks down a nurse he met earlier in the episode who he now realizes is involved with the organ harvesting. While confronting her he gets jabbed in the neck with a needle by her partner Lance and quickly becomes sedated. This seems to bother the nurse Layla who shoots lance and is then killed by Raylan before she can kill him. Raylan seems to have some trouble dealing with killing a woman, but there is more for him to worry about when he goes home and Winona is gone leaving only a note. Can’t wait for the next episode to find out what the note said. Another fantastic episode of this great series filled with some of the best characters on TV. “Justified” airs Tuesday 10pm on FX. I for one have my DVR set to record!
The one thing Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens has going for him is that there are so many money hungry scumbags around that he can keep his weapon holstered because they are killing each other. Jeremy Davies is gimpier than ever as Dickie has the crap kicked out of his as part of an escape plan. Corrupt prison guard Ash played by Todd Stashwick, is hell-bent on breaking Dickie out so he could get his hands on the Bennett Fortune being stored by Limehouse. Like most things in Harlan County things do not go to plan and Ash ends up getting run over by Raylan. Limehouse delivers the money to Dickie only for him to refuse it in order to keep their arrangement alive. Being Dickie’s best friend in prison, Dewey gets himself involved in the breakout and is in danger of having his organs sold on the black market. Eager to tune in next week to see if he makes it through the episode with both his kidneys. Meanwhile, Devil is approached by Detroit mobster Quarles to take out Boyd and come work for him. Being disturbed by the recent changes in Boyd in addition to his own greed he chooses to betray Boyd. This does not work out well for Devil who ends up taking a bullet in the face. Cant wait to learn more about Quarles and find out what he is planning. “Justified” airs on FX Tuesday at 10pm. I for one have my DVR set to record.
There are so many people trying to get a piece of Harlan county, U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens doesn’t even know who the real bad guy is. It’s a good thing the baddies turn on themselves and Givens can save his bullets for who is pulling the strings. Pruitt Taylor Vince guest stars this week on “Justified”, as a Pawn Shop owner more interested in Oxycontin than antiques. As always his performance kicks ass! When his character forces one of his drug addicted lackeys to play “Harlan Roulette” , is the tenses scene in the episode. To bad he also gets killed and wont become a series regular (at least Zombies didn’t eat him!) Boyd Crowder finally reveals his plan to take over all criminal activity in Harlan and requires his cousin Johnny’s bar as base of operations. While his white supremacist past may have made his encounter with Limehouse super awkward, by the episodes end he reveals that he is no longer that man but the past is still a part of him. James Legros makes another appearance as the dim-witted and very funny Wade Messer. When Raylan figures out Wyn Duffy is calling the shots he confronts him with a threat and a punch in the face. During this encounter he gets his first glimpse of the top bad guy, Quarles. For now Raylan just snaps a picture of the spring-loaded derringer carrying Quarles, but you know a gunfight between them is soon to come. “Justified” airs Tuesday 10pm on FX. “Justified” does not mess around! Graham Yost does a fantastic job of bringing Elmore Leonard’s characters to life. So good that Leonard recently wrote a new novel about Deputy Marshal Raylan Givens inspired by the show. Talk about art imitating art imitating art! This week introduced even more great characters to the cast with the addition of Carla Gugino and Mykelti Williams(Bubba!). Gugino plays Assistant Director Goodall who worked and had a relationship with Raylan in Miami. Leonard fans will remember that Gugino played Karen Sisco, another one of his characters who had a TV show. Fans are left to speculate if this is the same character, as we learn Goodall is not her maiden name. Williams looks like he is going to be trouble for both Raylan and Boyd as the cruel and nasty Limehouse. Art stepped up this week to take down the snitch gone rogue Poe. Poe was played very well by Frank John Hughes, a really great actor that was in “Band of Brothers” and “Catch Me if You Can.” While it seems the reason Boyd got arrested was to kill Dickie, in fact he just wanted to find out where the Bennett fortune is hidden. All this and Raylan getting used to the fact that he is going to be a daddy. Things are really heating up in Harlan County and I cant wait to see what happens next. “Justified” airs 10pm Tuesdays on FX, I for one have my DVR set to record!
